Where is your office?
Do you take my insurance?
Yes and no.
For individuals seeking direct care for a diagnosed mental health issue, we are in-network for most major Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. That means the bulk of your fee will be covered by insurance, and you may have a small co-payment.
Otherwise, we are an out-of-network provider. We can provide documentation to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary, but we can give you information before your first session to work out your out-of-pocket costs with your provider.
Couples therapy is not billable to insurance. Emotionally focused couples therapy is an investment in your relationship. The “relationship” (rather than an individual) is the “client.” But you can pay using your HSA/FSA account, and we’ll provide you with the proper documentation.
What should I expect at our first session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other…
Where have you been? Where are you now? What are you hoping to get out of therapy?
It’s also an opportunity for YOU to know how we can help you get what you want in your life or marriage.
Will I have homework?
That’s up to you! We’re avid believers in self-study and delighted to share our passion for learning with you.
We can supply relevant book recommendations, podcasts, articles, or comics to inspire and educate you.
What’s the focus of Couples Therapy?
Our work together will create lasting change in your patterns of interaction and communication.
We see your suffering and disconnection as a result of self-sustaining negative feedback loops (not psychiatric issues).
Think of it as preventive care for your relationship!
